Galáctica

Bar Galáctica is a café-bar at km 1 of the Gran Vía in La Manga, at the start of the strip coming from Cabo de Palos. Its name is associated with tostada galáctica, an enormous slice of toast that is by far the most discussed item, and at night it fills with people coming for ice cream and granizados (iced slush drinks).

Breakfast

Toast dominates the reviews: enormous, made the traditional way and at a price many consider cheap for what arrives on the plate. It comes with coffee and orange juice, and most morning customers sit on the spacious terrace. Some families have been coming down for breakfast here every summer for over thirty years.

Ice cream and summer evenings

Galáctica takes on a second life at dusk, when the ice cream counter takes over. Leche merengada (a chilled cinnamon and lemon milk drink) is the most mentioned speciality, followed by granizados (iced slush drinks), and the venue is usually full then. It also serves tapas, beer and cocktails, and shows sport on TV.

Opening hours and atmosphere

It opens every day from very early morning until after midnight. At summer peaks the bar gets very busy, and some customers have waited a long time for breakfast, so allow a little extra time. The premises have accessible toilets, free Wi-Fi and card or mobile payments, and are convenient for families with children.

Getting here
