Caldero (the local fish and rice stew) and red wine with lemon slush on Playa de Levante

Cabo P is a beach bar on the sands of Playa de Levante, beside Calle Pez Loro in Cabo de Palos, on the Mediterráneo side. It has loungers and sunbeds for spending the day, and serves everything from caldero (the local fish and rice stew) to burgers. Its signature drink is tinto de verano (red wine with lemonade) with lemon slush, mentioned in dozens of reviews.

From caldero (the local fish and rice stew) to burgers

The beach bar takes pride in its burgers and champions local cooking too: fried octopus, rice dishes and caldero (the local fish and rice stew), with salads and homemade desserts. Reviews largely agree:

  • Caldero (the local fish and rice stew) and rice dishes, mentioned in more than a dozen comments
  • Octopus and boquerones (anchovies)
  • Chopitos (small fried cuttlefish)
  • Burgers
  • Coffee or lemon slush and café asiático (Cartagena's liqueur coffee) to finish

Drinks include beer, wine, cocktails and mojitos, which the bar recommends for watching the sunset from a lounger.

Price

Spending ranges from around 10 to 40 euros per person, depending on whether you order a beer or a full rice dish. Several reviews find it slightly more expensive than other beach bars, although in line with beachfront dining prices.

Season and bookings

In summer it opens every day except Tuesday, from mid-morning until late evening. Outside high season it reduces its days and hours and closes before dinner, so it is best to call ahead. In July and August, booking is almost essential for both tables and sunbeds. Mornings have a family atmosphere, while afternoons are livelier, with themed parties on some days.

Dogs, parking and Wi-Fi

Dogs are welcome and Wi-Fi is free. There is free parking nearby, although finding a space is difficult in August. To compare other beachfront places, see the beach bars in Cabo de Palos and La Manga.

For an aperitif or a meal right on Playa de Levante, the best beach in Cabo de Palos. A variety of dishes. The caldero (the local fish and rice stew) and asiático dessert (inspired by Cartagena's liqueur coffee) are spectacular.
