Where to stay
Apartments in La Manga del Mar Menor
How most people stay here. Which kilometre point suits you, what it really costs and what to check before booking.
At a glance
Apartments are the most common accommodation in La Manga: the strip is almost entirely made up of seventies and eighties buildings with access to both beaches. High-season prices for two bedrooms range from €90 to €180 a night, dropping to €55 to €90 in June and September. Higher kilometre points are cheaper and quieter, but further from services.
Choose the kilometre point before the apartment
This is the advice we give most often. Apartments at km 5 and km 18 can cost the same but offer completely different holidays: at km 5, you step outside to twenty restaurants; at km 18, you need a car to buy bread.
Km 3 to 9 is the liveliest stretch, with the most noise at night. Km 10 to 16 offers a balance: services nearby and quiet nights. Beyond km 17, it's almost silent and you'll need a car.
What to check before you book
Look for air conditioning in the bedrooms, not just the living room: sleeping without it in August can be uncomfortable. Check for a lift in buildings over three storeys, as many from the seventies don't have one. And a parking space on Gran Vía is worth its weight in gold in August.
Always ask which way it faces. Apartments overlooking the Mar Menor get sunsets; those facing the Mediterráneo get sunrises and cooler afternoons.
Make a note
In August, the minimum stay is usually seven nights, with Saturday changeovers. Outside high season, most places accept weekend stays.
