Cala Major

Cala Major is a cove on the south side of the Cabo de Palos peninsula, beside Paseo del Acantilado, between Canto Colorado and Cala del Cura. It is part of the chain of small coves stretching from Cala Reona and Calblanque to the headland itself, and is one of the best known along this stretch.

What it is like

It is a quiet spot for those who prefer swimming away from busier beaches. The landscape features low cliffs and clean water and, as at almost all coves along this coast, paths and steps cut into the rock lead down to the water.

Getting here

The easiest way is on foot along the coastal path on the south side of Cabo de Palos. The same path lets you visit nearby coves, such as Cala del Cura or Playa de La Barra, in a single walk. For more swimming options, see the local beaches and coves.
