Sardines and sunsets beside the channel at Puerto Tomás Maestre

Chiringuito El Mirador is a bar-restaurant inside Tomás Maestre marina, at km 13 of La Manga. Its terrace overlooks the channel where boats pass from Mar Menor to Mediterráneo, and it is known for sunset dinners, sardines and a peaceful atmosphere despite being right in the marina.

What to eat

The cooking centres on griddled and fried fish, rice dishes and some substantial meat dishes. According to Google, eating here costs 20 to 30 euros per person. Large, fresh sardines appear in dozens of reviews, as do croquetas (Spanish croquettes). Other dishes mentioned repeatedly:

  • Caballitos (battered prawns) and boquerones (anchovies)
  • Generously sized chuletón (bone-in rib steak)
  • Burger, also available in a children's version

For those just wanting a drink or snack, there is coffee, cocktails, beer and baguette sandwiches. There is a children's menu, highchairs and free Wi-Fi, and dogs are welcome on the terrace.

Season and bookings

El Mirador is a summer beach bar. In season it opens daily from morning until after midnight; out of season Google shows weekends only, with dinner on Saturdays. Booking is recommended for lunch and especially dinner, as tables overlooking the channel fill up at sunset.

Getting to the marina

The beach bar is inside Puerto Tomás Maestre, by the Estacio channel. Cars enter through the marina's access barrier, where entry is managed, and the tables overlook moorings and channel traffic. There is free parking and wheelchair access. For other waterside places, see the list of beach bars in La Manga.
