Daily set menu and rice dishes in Plaza del Cavanna

Restaurante El Jardín is a Mediterranean restaurant in Plaza del Cavanna, at km 3 of La Manga, a few steps from the Gran Vía. Its reputation rests on two recurring themes in reviews: a home-cooked set menu that changes daily, and rice dishes, led by paella and arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish stock).

The daily set menu, only outside high season

The daily set menu is mentioned most in reviews, even ahead of paella. It changes every day, offers several choices and features generous home-cooked food. One detail to know before visiting: it is not served in the height of summer, when dining is à la carte only.

What to order à la carte

The menu is Mediterranean, based on fish, seafood and rice. These are the dishes diners mention most:

  • Paella, arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish stock) and caldero (the local fish and rice stew)
  • Salmon tartare and turbot
  • Fried cheese as a starter
  • Alioli to accompany the rice

The restaurant has a children's menu and gluten-free options for people with coeliac disease, plus a private area for family meals or small celebrations. It highlights its wine selection, which some reviews also praise.

Opening hours, bookings and access

El Jardín closes on Mondays and opens from early morning until evening the rest of the week, as both this listing and Google confirm. It is often full and service is brisk, so it is best to book for weekends. The entrance, dining room, toilets and parking are wheelchair-accessible. To explore other local menus, browse the restaurants in La Manga.

One of my favourite places in La Manga. Not the typical seasonal business that abandons us after cashing in during August. The service is exceptional, even better than the food. A thoughtfully prepared set menu on lovely crockery, at an affordable price. The à la carte menu is spectacular too.

Their rice dishes, both takeaway and eat-in, are delicious and very well priced. Ordering rice and eating it on our terrace looking out to sea has become a tradition every time we visit.

It made its name with its weekday and weekend set menus, their variety and the quality of the food. But now it only serves à la carte, the quality is even better. You rarely find a table without booking, which says it all.
