Climb Monteblanco to see La Manga between two seas

El Mirador de Monteblanco II, known as the 360º viewpoint, occupies the highest point of the Monteblanco residential development, at km 3 of La Manga del Mar Menor. Its platform overlooks the Mediterráneo, the Mar Menor and the strip of land between them all at once, and the two seas are what reviewers mention most.

Why it is worth the climb

Few places in the area reveal the shape of La Manga at a single glance. To the south you can make out Cabo de Palos. At the top, a central metal platform rises a few metres above the development's rooftops, and photography is one of the topics mentioned in reviews.

Given its orientation, the sun rises on the Mediterráneo side and sets over the Mar Menor in the afternoon.

Driving up, step by step

  • Start the climb up Monteblanco in the left-hand lane.
  • Turn left at the traffic light beside Mirador de Monteblanco I.
  • Continue to the end of the road and leave the car there.
  • Walk up the flight of steps to the platform.

The steps are the only strenuous part of the visit, and several reviews mention them.

Before you go

Entry is unrestricted and free, and the visit is short. There are no toilets, bar or restaurant at the top, and the steps mean the viewpoint is not wheelchair-accessible; there is no adapted parking either. Google marks it as suitable for children.

Mirador de Monteblanco I is on the same road, and Mirador del Galúa is near Plaza Bohemia, so all three can be linked in one outing. For more ideas to complete the day, see places to visit in La Manga.
