A mural and views of both seas at km 3

Mural de Monteblanco is a large-scale painting covering the walls at the start of the descent from Monteblanco, at km 3 of La Manga. It depicts waves, the movement of the sea and local wildlife, and is a short walk from the Monteblanco viewpoint, one of the few elevated spots where both seas can be seen at once.

Who painted it and what it depicts

The work is by José María Vidal, from Calima Proyectos Pictóricos, and José Luis Martínez, who signs his work as Goyo 203. They used water as the connecting theme to portray marine life in La Manga, from Mar Menor to Mediterráneo. It can be seen from the street, with no admission charge or opening hours.

Climbing to the viewpoint

Steps beside the mural lead up to the viewpoint. Reviews agree that the climb is worth it: at the top there is a 360-degree view of La Manga, Mar Menor and Mediterráneo, making it a good spot for photos. Access is not wheelchair adapted, and there are no toilets or bars at the viewpoint itself.

All the icons of La Manga are represented in the mural. Puente de la Risa, the salt mill, turtles and jellyfish!
