From the sands of Levante to the lighthouse, cove by cove

The walk from Playa de Levante to the lighthouse links the beach in Cabo de Palos, on the village's Mediterranean side within the municipality of Cartagena, to the lighthouse on top of the cape. Along the way it passes several small rocky coves, including Cala del Pato.

Playa de Levante

It is a fine-sand beach with generally calm water, popular with residents and visitors. It has a beach bar, foot showers and several stepped access points from the promenade, as well as wheelchair-adapted access. Its waters are used for paddleboarding, windsurfing, snorkelling and diving, as Cabo de Palos is the gateway to the Islas Hormigas marine reserve.

The walk to the lighthouse

The seafront promenade is well maintained, with benches and lighting at night. From the sands of Levante, the path follows the coast past rocky coves to the Cabo de Palos lighthouse, one of the most photographed spots on the Murcia coast. Early morning and sunset offer the best light.

Getting here

Playa de Levante is within Cabo de Palos itself, so you can walk there from the harbour or village centre. The promenade is freely accessible at any time. To plan the rest of your day, see the beaches of La Manga and Cabo de Palos.

A beautiful walk to the lighthouse, with the sea on either side. A must at sunset.

One of the best views around. The walk is worth it, especially towards the end of the day.
