Rules sign at the Playa Paraíso dog beach, La MangaDog beach marked out with buoys in Playa Paraíso, CartagenaDog swimming area on Playa de Las Salinas, La Manga

One hundred and forty metres of shore for swimming with your dog

The Las Salinas dog beach, also known as Los Alemanes, is a dog swimming area on the Playa Honda promenade, at the entrance to La Manga, in the municipality of Cartagena. It is one of three dog beaches designated by Cartagena council along its coast, alongside La Calera and Lengua de la Vaca, and covers a 140-metre stretch.

What the dog area is like

The stretch is marked out with wooden posts or buoys and ropes because it borders the regular swimming area. The dog shower, for rinsing off sand and salt before returning to the car, is the feature most appreciated in reviews. There are no toilets.

It helps to know what the ground is like. Several visitors warn that the sand contains shell fragments and small stones that can be sharp, with seaweed and some mud at the water's edge. Jellyfish in the water are also mentioned.

Rules for use
