Sunsets and shallow water at km 16

Playa Chica is a small beach on the Mar Menor side, around km 16 of the Gran Vía in La Manga, within the stretch from km 14,6 to 16,4. Its reputation comes from sunsets, mentioned in almost every review, and its seasonal beach bar, rather than swimming.

What the water is like

This is Mar Menor at its most characteristic: the water barely reaches your knees however far you walk, and the bottom is muddy, with mud some people spread on their skin. Seaweed is the most frequently mentioned drawback, and on some days getting in is difficult. The sand is coarse.

Beach bar and sunset

In summer, a beach bar serves sharing plates at tables overlooking the water, a good place to wait for sunset over the lagoon. Out of season, the beach is quiet and remains a spot for watching the sunset.

If you want to swim, Mediterráneo is across the road. Compare options among the beaches of La Manga.
