Playa de Mar de Cristal

Playa de Mar de Cristal is the village beach within the municipality of Cartagena, on the southern shore of Mar Menor, between Cabo de Palos and Los Nietos. The water is warm, wave-free and very shallow, making it particularly popular with families with young children and older people.

What swimming is like

You have to walk quite a way before the water gets deep, something parents appreciate. The most frequent complaints are seaweed, which accumulates on some days, and jellyfish in high summer. Water conditions change with the overall state of Mar Menor: some seasons it is crystal clear, while at other times it is murkier.

Promenade, beach bars and parking

A palm-lined promenade runs the length of the beach, with beach bars on the sand serving simple food. Parking is usually easy, especially outside July and August. The beach has toilets, showers and a children's play area.
