Waist-deep water and a promenade with beach bars

Playa Honda is a sandy beach on the southern shore of Mar Menor, in the municipality of Cartagena, beside the development of the same name and neighbouring Playa Paraíso. The water is very shallow and usually warm, and its promenade with beach bars has made it one of this shore's family beaches.

Swimming

The seabed slopes so gently that an adult can walk a long way before the water rises above their hips, which is why families with children choose it. As elsewhere in the lagoon, seaweed is the most frequent complaint, and jellyfish appear in summer, almost always the fried egg variety. Wooden walkways and ramps make access to the sand and water easier.

Promenade and facilities

A promenade follows the beach through gardens and palms, with beach bars and restaurants on the sand, making it pleasant for walking or cycling. Sunsets over Mar Menor are another good reason to stay late.
