Sunsets and calm water on the southern shore

Playa Paraíso is a beach on the southern shore of Mar Menor, in the municipality of Cartagena, beside Playa Honda and on the curve of the coast towards La Manga. It is peaceful, very shallow for many metres and has beach bars opposite, making it popular mainly with families and those seeking calm.

What swimming is like

For deeper water, you need to walk out to the buoys, where a jellyfish net is installed in summer. There are jellyfish in season, plenty of seaweed and stones both in and out of the water, with some muddy stretches of seabed. On good days the water is warm and clear.

Sunsets and atmosphere

Sunsets feature most in reviews, falling directly over this part of the lagoon. There are beach bars nearby for food or a drink after swimming, a few palm trees, and easy access by bicycle.
